From a delicious Christmas buffet luncheon to extravagant holiday decor, the Tate House Christmas Open House is sure to amaze all who tour the 19th century mansion! Recently named one of the top “must see” places in Georgia by Georgia Magazine, the beautiful pink marble mansion is one of the most photographed privately owned homes in Georgia and is listed as the “Pink Palace” in the National Register of Historic Places. Situated on an enormous vein of marble, the mansion was built as a personal home by Colonel Sam Tate, land/baron, philanthropist and business tycoon. In 1834, Samuel Tate purchased the land the Tate House stands on and moved his family from Lumpkin County, Georgia. His son, Stephen Tate, began the mining of marble, which eventually placed Tate, Georgia on the map. The Estate was purchased by the current owners in 2001 who restored it to become one of the most beautiful and romantic wedding and event facilities in North Georgia. Each holiday season, the Tate House invites guests to their Christmas Open House that includes lavish Christmas Decorations in every room of the mansion. See the gardens and centuries old oaks and black walnut trees on the 27-acre estate. Enjoy a festive holiday luncheon buffet, and visit the holiday gift shop. The Tate House is only open to the public for a few weeks every holiday season and tickets sell out fast. Don’t miss this special event!
