Experience Gaylord Opryland Resort’s Annual “Country Christmas”. Colonial Williamsburg Christmas
Join us as we visit Williamsburg, VA where you’ll find enduring traditions, charming period Christmas decorations, and a season that warms the heart. Williamsburg was capital of the Virginia Colony from 1699 to 1780 and played a significant role in the American Revolution. Today, it serves as a living history museum where costumed interpreters portray daily life in the Colony and share their Colonial Christmas Traditions. Visit the authentic trade shops, have an included dinner in an authentic tavern, and visit Merchant Square, an 18th-century style retail village with over 40 unique shops and restaurants. Travel back in time at Jamestown Settlement where you can explore America’s beginnings with interactive exhibits, gallery exhibits, films, and an outdoor living-history area where you can climb aboard a re-creation of one of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia in 1607. Spend two nights at the Williamsburg Resort at the Colonial Village. One night of this tour is spent in Charlotte, NC with an evening visit to the Billy Graham Library during the Light of the World annual Christmas Celebration! The Journey of Faith Tour retraces the inspiring journey of Billy Graham, and the live nativity, holiday dinner, and carriage ride around the grounds are highlights of the Library visit. West Virginia is beautiful anytime of the year, but especially in the Fall! You will love this Hub & Spoke Tour with a 3-night stay in cozy accommodations at an elegant lakeside lodge at Stonewall Resort State Park with wonderful breakfasts and dinners. From our lakeside hub, we will spoke out on new adventures throughout West Virginia each day! All aboard for a daytime rail excursion on the New Tygart Flyer in Elkins, WV! This wilderness excursion features mountain grades, an “S” curve tunnel, a high bridge and miles of unspoiled mountain views. Vintage diesel-powered locomotives climb along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the High Falls of Cheat, an 18′ high, 150′ wide waterfall. Enjoy the view aboard a comfortable, climate-controlled passenger train car. The New River carves a deep gorge through southern West Virginia. The New River Gorge Bridge is the longest steel span in the western hemisphere, the third highest bridge in the United States, and it is one of the most photographed places in West Virginia…so we will go see it and take photos too! When we think of WV, we think of coal mines. We will visit a recreated coal camp at Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. Experience what the early working days of mining were like on a tour into a vintage coal mine with a veteran miner as your Guide. Located on a small island in the Ohio River, Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park features a Palladian mansion on the island and a museum of regional history located in Parkersburg, WV. This unique state park is visited by over 40,000 people each year and is accessed by sailing across the river on an authentic sternwheeler riverboat. Once on the island, enjoy a tour of the 1789 mansion and a horse-drawn carriage ride around the beautiful grounds. You will even learn about the ties the island has to Aaron Burr’s military conspiracy dating back to 1805. Enjoy a great family variety show at the Gandy Dancer Dinner Theater in Elkins, WV, visit the Tamarack Artisan Village and see unique works of art and handcrafted items by local WV artist.
