DAY TRIP – Atlanta Icons

S. Truett Cathy began his entrepreneurial career at eight years old, selling Coca-Cola bottles in front of his home. From there, he became a highly successful restauranteur and launched one of the most successful chicken restaurant chains in the United States. The Chick-fil-A® Backstage Tour is a guided walking tour about the history, culture, and values of Chick-fil-A founder, S. Truett Cathy. Join Daniel’s as we visit the corporate headquarters in Atlanta to learn about the companies most valued company assets: their hospitable people and their unique story. You will enjoy a fun storytelling experience about the fascinating history, culture, and values of the company, and much more. The Original Life and Legacy Tour is an immersive experience in which guests hear directly from three generations of Cathy Family in an introductory film and visit Truett’s Office, the History Museum, and Truett’s classic car collection.  Enjoy lunch on your own at the Dwarf House, where it all began in 1946.  It was in this location that Truett first invented the boneless chicken sandwich and asked his customers to taste test it for him until he perfected the recipe in 1964. More than 75 years later, The Dwarf House continues to give customers a glimpse into the beginnings of the Chick-fil-A franchise, serving items from Truett’s original menu (including hamburgers!) along with the Chick-fil-A menu. Standing in the heart of Delta’s Atlanta headquarters is the 68,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Delta Flight Museum.  Discover the unique stories and culture of a company that grew from a crop-dusting operation to a global airline serving more than 290 destinations on six continents. The Historic 1940’s era Legacy and Spirit Hangars have recently reopened after a refresh and serve as the primary exhibition spaces.  With a focus on the history of Delta from the 1920s to today, exhibitions include hands-on interactive experiences, the most iconic aircraft to ever fly – the first 747 – 400, a celebration of the people of Delta and the discovery of the future of flight.  The Museum is a one-of-a-kind venue within a mile of the world’s busiest airport.
